Heroism is the quality that all of us wish to have but only some are truly lucky enough to have. It is the essence of being courageous, daring and brave in the face of danger, no matter what the consequences may be. The idea and concept of heroism is one that has been around for centuries. It is seen in the ancient stories of gods and goddesses, warriors and kings, and even ordinary people. It is the idea that a person can stand up for what they believe in and protect others in the face of danger, even if it means sacrificing their own life to do so. Today, acts of heroism come in many forms. From civil rights activists that fight to bring about equality and justice, to members of the military that go into war zones to protect fellow soldiers and their countries, heroes are all around us. We also have everyday heroes that we come across, such as firefighters, police officers, medical personnel, and even people who volunteer their time to help those in need. All of these acts of heroism are often overlooked and go unnoticed, but they are still a form of heroism nonetheless. Heroism is a quality that we should all strive to have. It instills courage in times of great difficulty and reminds us that we all have the ability to make a difference in someone elses life. We can all be heroes in some shape or form, no matter how big or small the act may be. All it takes is one brave individual to stand up and make a difference.
