In 1820, scientist Edward Bransfield became the first person to ever sight mainland Antarctica. In 1895, the famous Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen became the first person to reach the South Pole. Antarctica continues to fascinate and inspire people with its pristine beauty and mystery. It holds a remarkable history and culture, and along with its jaw-dropping landscape, it remains one of the worlds most spectacular natural wonders.
