Night Lights Do you remember the night lights in your children bedroom when you were a kid? Night lights are safe and provide your children with a sense of a secure environment and peace of mind. Although night lights arent a “must-have” for every baby, as some parents are comfortable relying on the light coming in from other sources, night lights still offer certain advantages. Having a night light in your babys room can help create a gentle atmosphere when youre settling him or her at night or checking up on them during the night. When parents check on a sleeping baby, a night light allows the parents to see enough without having to turn on the main lights which may wake the baby. Some parents will use a night light during nappy changes, or to feed baby during the night. If a baby wakes during the night, a night light helps them orientate themselves so they know where they are and will help to reduce any fear of the dark. Night lights often provide a soft, comforting glow which can help little ones to drift off to sleep and can even be useful for providing a calming and reassuring atmosphere. This can be particularly helpful in helping babies settle down after a nightmare. Although there are some great advantages to using a night light, parents should be mindful of some drawbacks. The main one being the energy consumption associated with electric night lights. A good alternative to electric night lights are star light projectors. These dont use a bulb and can be a much more energy efficient and lower cost option.
