Night Lights Night lights are what we use to help us out in the darkness of the night. It's interesting to see how the night lights have evolved over time. There were night lights that were candles, fires or wood burning lamps. Then in the 18th century, oil lamps made their way into our homes. Oil lamps were the most popular during this time and provided a more efficient light than before. In the 19th century, the invention of the electric light bulb changed the way people lit up their homes. It became easier to install light bulbs as they were more affordable than oil lamps. It was during this time that night lights started to become more popular. Night lights at this time were usually maintained by plugging them into the wall sockets and then using a pull switch or just turning them off and on. Today, night lights come in a variety of shapes and sizes. From little plastic figures and cartoon characters to star-shaped and glowing neon designs. These LED night lights now provide us with enough light that they can be used as a night time source of illumination. There are even motion activated night lights that turn on when you walk into a room. All in all, night lights have come a long way from candles and oil lamps. Night lights now provide us with light when it is needed, and are a great way to make our home feel welcoming and relaxed.
