Lighting is an important aspect of everyday life. Without light, we would not be able to see. Everywhere we go, light is a necessity to illuminate the area and to make sure that people have a safe and comfortable environment in which to move around. Lighting is used for many different purposes. Outside of the home, lighting can be used for safety purposes like roadways, car parks and pathway lighting. Inside the home, lighting can be used to create mood, focus attention on certain areas, create drama, or simply to provide illumination in areas that are not naturally illuminated. In the workplace, lighting is also used for safety, such as emergency lighting, task lighting, and accent lighting. Lighting is also used for more creative applications, such as stage lighting, film lighting, photography, art installations, and television. All of these require both skill and experience to ensure the lighting is correctly placed and utilized in order to best suit the desired purpose and effect. Lighting is truly a versatile and invaluable part of modern life that helps make all other activities and processes possible. Without it, life would be a much darker place.
